Books, books and more books!
I’ve just been on a trip from Scotland to Somerset and back, visiting people and places, and I’ve been struck by the sheer number and size of the secondhand book shops and shelves popping up in places like stately homes, National Trust properties, restaurants, and the efforts made to create attractive inviting nooks to sit and enjoy the pleasures of reading. Brings joy to the heart of a writer!! I could easily have filled the boot of the car if I hadn’t restrained myself, and remembered my own already-groaning bookshelves, but as it was I limited purchases to a mere ten:
This week I thought I’d just share some of the imaginative ideas volunteers who clearly love books have given us. So I invite you to sit back and simply savour them.
