‘Twas the week before Christmas and all over the house …’

Tree baubleIf you have time at all to spend on reading a blog this week, you certainly won’t want serious stuff about ethical decision making or literary analysis! I’m with you there.

ParcelChez nous, the parcels and cards have all been posted; the house is draped in its festive plumage; gifts for the family are wreathed in ribbons; costumes and scripts and props for the story/play are all assembled; menus are drawn up. So attention is now on visits to special people, preparing food, and a programme of services to keep the Christ in Christmas.

EnhancementOne friend put a note in her card to me: Do writers get time off for Christmas? Well, this year this particular writer has given herself permission to enjoy the luxury of concentrating on domestic matters. What a treat!

But I’m also acutely aware of those whose hearts are heavy this Christmas time. We have yet another funeral this week; another family for whom the world is out of kilter. In the midst of our busyness, let’s spare a thought for all such.

But if your circumstances are happier, have a blessed Christmas and thank you for visiting my blog.
